RE: Work Camping Listings - Whose Best

We've always used workamper.com and friends, but it all depends on what type of work you want and where you want to work.

RE: How are you and your RV during these times?

We are full-timers, workamping since 2003. We are returning to work after having some work done at the Monaco repair facility at Wildwood, FL. We enjoyed the trip and on the way back to Marathon, we will be taking it easy and doing some sightseeing. We have seen many, many RV's on the road the past couple days, most of them heading south. See you next year in West Yellowstone.

RE: Passport America Input

We've used it for many years. When you pay 1/2 price at a bad campground Passport America can make it a good campground.

RE: Steering Wheel Table

We made our own from a scrap piece of 1/2 inch plywood and some 1x2 stock. Rock solid and when its covered by a table cloth it looks great. LOTS cheaper than Camping World!!!

RE: towing hybrids

I would start at each dealer of the hybrid you are interested in and then ask to read the owners manual under Recreational Towing (or something like that). The printed word may differ from the salesmans words. Should provide an intervesting investivation.

RE: New to Workkcamping

Best way to get started is to check in with www.workamper.com. Most of us got our start there, they have all the help you will need to get a job you will enjoy.

RE: Passport America or CampClub?

Passport America has worked for us for many years. Even when we leave our WK job for a couple days off, we pick PPA parks.

RE: When do you need trailer/toad brakes?

yes.

RE: BrakeBuddy and Saturn Ion

We used the Brake Buddy in our toad for 18 months, pulled the fuse as the manual said and had NO PROBLEM. Our 12v outlet stayed hot after pulling the fuse. We've recently installed the Ready Brake and will still have to pull the fuse.

HR service in Wildwood Fl

We will be taking our coach to the Wildwood, FL service center to have a slide leak fixed the end of September. Will also have some other problems taken care of as well. We would have preferred the Elkhart service center but, they will be closed at the end of August and Oregon is further away. What kind of results have you folks had??

RE: Long Stay Suggestions?

Pull in, level, hook everything up and enjoy your stay for 3 months or so. We are full timers and workampers so we park for up to 6 months at a time, living in our MH year round. I would recommend running your generator 1 hour under load monthly to keep it in good working order. NO jacks under the slides. If you were in a TT or 5er then maybe but in a MH you don't need them. Enjoy

RE: Best gel coat polish and protector?

We use NuFInish cause it can be applied in the direct sunshine and when the surface is hot.

RE: Do I need 50amp service?

Don't be afraid to ask questions of the person you are renting from and don't be afraid to ask questions wheen you get to your campground. RV'ers in general are friendly and will answer your questions and show you much. I beleive that all Alfa's are 50 amp so if you can get a camp site that has 50amp, you will not have to be so careful about what appliances you you use inside the MH. ENJOY

RE: When do rv parks etc start telling workampers

Many campgrounds will not contact next years workampers until they check with current ones to determine if they want to return next summer.

RE: European Motorhomes in the US

I think that Hymer S-class is a sharp looking RV. May have a Mercedes Diesel under the hood and probably get good mpg. If the Hymer is imported, they will have to bring parts and trained people too. Remember the Renault?

RE: rv maintenance on the road

We use Coach Care facilities when we need work done on the business end of the coach. They have the parts readily available. It may be a little pricy but the service is always good and they have a place to plug in.....need AC's in El Paso. For the coach part, we use which ever RV dealer is closest or we do it our self.
